Inflammation and nutritional status are frequently assessed using the serum albumin to globulin ratio (A/G), a widely utilized biomarker. Yet, the predictive power of serum A/G in patients with acute ischemic stroke (AIS) is rarely reported. We undertook a study to investigate the correlation between serum A/G and stroke prognosis.
The Third China National Stroke Registry's data was used to guide our analysis. Quartile groups of patients were established using their serum A/G levels measured at admission. Clinical outcomes encompassed poor functional results (modified Rankin Scale [mRS] score of 3-6 or 2-6) and mortality from any cause at 3 months and 1 year. Multivariable logistic regression and Cox proportional hazards regression analyses were conducted to examine the relationship between serum A/G ratio and the risk of poor functional outcomes and death from any cause.
The research involved a complete cohort of 11,298 patients. After controlling for confounding elements, patients in the highest quartile of serum A/G levels displayed a lower proportion of mRS scores between 2 and 6 (odds ratio [OR], 0.87; 95% confidence interval [CI], 0.76-1.00) and mRS scores between 3 and 6 (OR, 0.87; 95% CI, 0.73-1.03) at the 3-month follow-up. At the one-year follow-up, a noteworthy correlation was observed between elevated serum A/G levels and an mRS score of 3 to 6, with an odds ratio of 0.68 (95% confidence interval, 0.57 to 0.81). Elevated serum A/G levels were found to be correlated with a reduced risk of all-cause mortality at the three-month follow-up, displaying a hazard ratio of 0.58 (95% confidence interval of 0.36 to 0.94). Results consistent with the initial findings were observed at a one-year follow-up.

The use of telemedicine for routine HIV care saw a rise, owing to the SARS-CoV-2 pandemic. However, a restricted knowledge base exists about the public opinions and lived experiences regarding telemedicine at U.S. federally qualified health centers (FQHCs) specializing in HIV treatment. We investigated the telemedicine experiences across stakeholders in diverse roles: people living with HIV (PLHIV), clinicians and case managers, clinic administrators, and policymakers.
With the goal of understanding the positive and negative experiences of telemedicine (phone and video) in HIV care, qualitative interviews were undertaken with 31 people living with HIV and 23 other stakeholders, including clinicians, case managers, clinic administrators, and policymakers. The process of extracting major themes from the interviews involved the transcription of each interview, translation into English if Spanish, subsequent coding, and ultimate analysis.
The majority of people living with HIV (PLHIV) felt confident about conducting telephone visits, and a number indicated a willingness to learn the use of video visits. Telemedicine was a highly sought-after addition to HIV care routines for nearly all people living with HIV (PLHIV), mirroring the widespread support of clinical, programmatic, and policy stakeholders. The widespread acceptance and practicability of audio-only telephone telemedicine for HIV care among people living with HIV, clinicians, and other stakeholders was evident. Overcoming obstacles for stakeholders in incorporating video consultations will be pivotal for the successful implementation of video-based telemedicine as part of standard HIV care practices at FQHCs.
